My career journey.
My first venture into live events was joining the Road Crew team at Poughkeepsie's iHeart Media Radio Station while studying at Marist College. It was there where I learned to love the exhilaration of rolling up my sleeves and getting to work. We brainstormed event ideas, proposed those ideas to the executive board, and once approved we packed up a company vehicle and set off to promote the business. I attended concerts, sporting events, grand openings, and community days. I engaged audiences of all sizes and demographics with raffles, games, and activities. I curated content for our social feed and wrote press releases about our events.
An opportunity in New York City brought me away from radio and into commercials. I landed an internship at a casting company called Background Inc. providing extras and principal actors for the many commercials, promos, and music videos shot in NY. Soon, I was brought on full-time and eventually promoted to Associate Casting Director where I single-handedly curated collections and cast talent for a variety of productions - sometimes with as many as 500 extras. I learned many valuable skills during my three years there; how to be organized, think creatively, understand conceptual ideas and turn them into tangible executions, and most importantly: how to think quickly when things don't go as planned. When dealing with talent, there's always something BUT there's always a solution, too.
I then made a transition into corporate meetings and events at PineRock Productions, where we managed the creative, graphic design, production, organization, and execution of all types of engagements. From conferences, broadcasts, activations, and summits to experiential marketing, training, and rebrandings - our clients looked to us for creative ideas on how to best reach their audiences. And working with Pharma, Consumer, Tech, and Financial Services industries taught me to tailor ideas to a diverse set of clients. My role transformed over the years I was on staff. Starting as a production & graphics coordinator, I was able to then apply that organized and deadline-driven approach to the creative strategy role I grew into. Acting as an associate creative director, I was responsible for initial creative ideation, putting together proposal decks, pitching creative to our clients, and overseeing the collaboration process of finalizing executable deliverables.
So where to next? I'm looking for a company that encourages curiosity. A place where I can flex my creative muscles. A role that needs someone who adapts quickly and isn't afraid to jump into everything. Whatever is next for me, I'm ready.
